Julia works for London-based travel specialists Daunt Books.  At Daunt books, ‘designed for travellers who like reading’ Julia spends her time matching people with books.  She loves talking to people, finding out more about them and their interests, before recommending books she believes they will enjoy.

Julia is a children’s book specialist.  She spent fifteen years developing her expertise at Waterstone’s in Bath, Bristol, Leamington Spa,  Stratford Upon Avon and Kingston upon Thames.  After completing an MA in publishing in 2008, she joined Daunt Books, whose layout she had long admired.  Everything is catergorised by country, so alongside guidebooks you will find travel writing, history and fiction.  This requires a little work on the part of the customer who is then rewarded by making connections with books he or she would otherwise never normally find.

Julia has travelled with independent travel specialists Wild Frontiers to China, Pakistan, India, Turkey and Georgia, and is involved in a long-term project to help create a booklist for each of the countries they visit, as well as publishing recommended reading on their website at
